Doctor explains fistula procedure
August 27, 2021
Phong Dargon, MD, is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon at Palmdale Regional. He works with nephrologists to help patients who require hemodialysis. An arteriovenous fistula, or AV fistula, is a surgical connection between an artery and a vein. The fistula is typically inserted in the patient’s non-dominant arm.
Once the fistula is in place, patients with renal failure can receive hemodialysis, a process that filters the blood and increases flow. Learn about the fistula procedures that Dr. Dargon performs, as well as their benefits.
