Special Features

The Emergency Department at Palmdale Regional Medical Center has 35 beds and features:

  • A special area for patients who have non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses but who need urgent medical care
  • A quick triage area for rapid assessment of each patient's medical condition
  • An inner waiting area for testing
  • A helipad for quick, emergency access
  • Emergency care for heart attack and stroke

All patients in the Emergency Department get the benefit of receiving high quality care from a team of physicians and mid-level care providers, including Advance Practice Providers (APP), registered nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and EMTs, who work in cooperation with other in-house specialists.

Continuity of Care

Emergency patients who are admitted to the hospital will be placed on a plan of care that is managed by their primary care physicians. Our Hospitalist Program will connect patients who do not have a primary care physician with an Internal Medicine physician who will oversee their care during the hospital stay.

Access to Care

We offer treatment to every patient who enters the Emergency Department. We stabilize and treat all patients regardless of age, race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, insurance or lack of insurance. Our first goal is to provide you with appropriate and effective care. We do not ask for insurance information until after you have completed the triage process and our evaluation by a doctor, physician assistant or nurse practitioner.

Victims of Crime

If you are the victim of a crime whose injuries require treatment in the Emergency Department, we can help. In addition to providing high quality medical care, we have a Victims of Crime project that allows ED patients in these circumstances to receive financial assistance toward the costs of their care. Ask a Financial Counselor in the Admitting Department for more information.
